A woman has died following a one-vehicle crash on the A87 in the Scottish Highlands.
The incident occurred near Inverinate, Kyle, at around 11:10 am on Tuesday, when a white Vauxhall Astra veered off the road.
Emergency services rushed to the scene, but the 57-year-old female passenger was tragically pronounced dead.
The 57-year-old male driver was transported to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow for treatment. His condition remains unknown.
Police Scotland has launched an investigation into the crash and is urging anyone with information or dashcam footage to come forward.
Sergeant Calum MacAulay from the Road Policing Unit extended condolences to the victim’s family and thanked the public for their patience as officers carried out inquiries. The road was closed for several hours before reopening at 6:30 pm.
The A87 is a key route linking the Scottish mainland to the Isle of Skye, known for its scenic views but also its winding and sometimes treacherous conditions.
In recent years, several accidents have been reported along the stretch, raising concerns about road safety in the area.
