Seven individuals, including a schoolgirl, have been arrested following a murder investigation into the death of an 18-year-old man who was tragically stabbed in Ilkeston, Derbyshire, just days after Christmas.
Emergency services were called to Rose Avenue at approximately 8:20pm on the evening of the incident after reports of a stabbing.
Upon arrival, paramedics discovered the young man with a stab wound on the street. Despite their best efforts to save him, he was pronounced dead shortly afterwards on Heanor Road.
His family has been notified and is receiving support from specially trained officers, according to Derbyshire Police.
A murder investigation has now been launched. Four 17-year-old boys have been arrested on suspicion of murder, while a 15-year-old girl, a 16-year-old girl, and a 52-year-old man have been taken into custody on suspicion of assisting an offender.
Detective Chief Inspector Claudia Musson, from the East Midlands Special Operations Unit, is leading the investigation.
She stated, “We are keen for anyone with information to contact us as a matter of urgency to assist with the inquiry into the death of this young man.”
The police are particularly seeking CCTV, doorbell, or dashcam footage captured between 7:00pm and 9:00pm on the evening of the incident.
They are asking for footage from areas including Heanor Road, Rose Avenue, Summerfields Way, Kedleston Drive, and Peveril Drive to help with their ongoing investigation.
Anyone with information is urged to contact Derbyshire Police as soon as possible.
