“At this time there is no evidence to suggest the threat was credible. Enquiries into the incident are continuing.”
Kirkwall Airport, located on the Orkney Islands, serves as a key hub for both domestic and international flights to Scotland’s northernmost regions.
The airport is a vital link for the local community, connecting residents with mainland Scotland and beyond. Given its essential role, any security concerns at the airport quickly draw attention, both locally and nationally.
Despite the lack of evidence suggesting a credible threat, investigations remain ongoing as a precaution.
Passengers affected by the disruption have been urged to stay in touch with their respective airlines for updates on delayed or cancelled flights.
