An easyJet flight was forced to return to Glasgow shortly after take-off when a cabin crew member was injured during mid-air turbulence.
Flight EZY439 had departed from Glasgow Airport just after midday on Sunday, bound for Jersey. However, tracking data showed the aircraft turned back approximately 15 minutes into the journey, landing safely around 40 minutes after departure.
The airline confirmed that turbulence began shortly after take-off, resulting in a crew member requiring medical assistance. All passengers were seated with seat belts fastened at the time of the incident.
An EasyJet spokesperson said: “Flight EZY439 from Glasgow to Jersey on 29 March returned to Glasgow due to a cabin crew member requiring medical assistance.
“The flight landed normally in Glasgow and was met by medical services on the ground. We plan for passengers to continue their journey to Jersey later today and apologise for any inconvenience.
“The safety and wellbeing of passengers and crew is always easyJet’s highest priority.”
Passengers were safely disembarked after landing, with the flight later rescheduled. According to airport information, the service is now expected to depart for Jersey on Tuesday morning.
Glasgow Airport is Scotland’s second-busiest airport after Edinburgh Airport and ranks among the UK’s busiest aviation hubs.
The incident highlights the unpredictable nature of turbulence and the importance of onboard safety procedures, with no injuries reported among passengers.
